Our founder and primary photographer Lesa Van Meter has had a gypsy-like upbringing from coast to coast. Her perpetually traveling and moving background has given her a heart for celebrating variety, color and juxtaposition. She loves dramatically pulling subjects into the spotlight. Her photography style comes to life with a fusion of personality-forward moments, bold colors, both natural and created sets, modern high-fashion attitude, and classically-informed poses. Her passion is creating top quality, beautiful, dramatic, creative, compelling and timeless portraits.

Our Photographer

Shadowlands Photography’s Owner & Photographer Lesa Van Meter is a leading portrait photographer in the Midwest. After studying photography at Spring Arbor University, Lesa established Shadowlands in 1998 as a sole proprietor and graduated the business to an incorporation on November 18, 2010.

Lesa is a wife and mother of five. In addition to photography, Lesa also has a passion for artist development (check out TheInspired.Co) and community-building through the creative arts (check out The Garden - a multi-purpose venue she and her husband launched in 2020).
